At the Mass Production workshops with Philippe Malouin in Domaine de
Boisbuchet last August, I’ve designed and manufactured an award winning
plywood coat hook. To create a high quality functional product I’ve made
ten 1:1 prototypes trying to improve my process in each trial. For each prototype, I changed variables such as direction of grains, wood type, amount of glue and layers of veneer. In this way I could investigate the possibilities of various kinds of plywood and test how their properties affect the final compound form made by laminating wood veneers to create a curve.
